NCPD DEVELOPED GUIDELINES OF PSYCHOSOCIAL FOR CHILDREN WITH DISABILITIES

Developers of guideline to be used in Centers

National Council of Persons with Disabilities with his stakeholders developed the guidelines to harmonize and standardize the bio-psychosocial services provided to Children with Disabilities (CWDs) in collaboration with the institutions taking care children with disabilities in Rwanda. The category of Persons with Disabilities is referring in the category of human beings need special treatment. It is the global issue makes them kind of victim of stigma, discrimination and violence. The government and states are recommended to be actively involved in the implementation of UN conventions regarding the rights of PWDs (UNCRPD, 2006).

In this regards, the Government of Rwanda is making efforts to improve the quality of services provided to PWDs including psychosocial aspects. This is evidenced by the establishment of laws, ministerial orders, policies and strategies addressing PWDs related challenges.
