THE NATIONAL COUNCIL OF PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES

This workshop took place in Muhanga District at Hotel Saint Andre de Kabgayi. The participants came in the different institutions like: Handicap International, VSO, NUDOR, UPHLS, MY RIGTH, RDRC and District Mainstreaming Officer. All partners presented  their achievements in different   sectors of life  related to the promotion for welfare of persons with Disabilities like: the positive mindset change towards Persons with Disabilities, inclusion of Persons with Disabilities in policies, laws, programs and budgets, categorization of Persons with Disabilities and provide disability cards to all categorized and engagement of public institutions and civil society organizations in the mainstreaming of Persons with Disabilities. In partnership with different institutions where the barriers are removed through the different policies like: Inclusive & special Education, Public infrastructure (Rwanda building Code in partnership with Rwanda Housing Authority), media where the news at Rwanda Television is presented with sign language interpreter, in ICT the programs used by people with hearing impairment. The sensitization for children with Disabilities drop out at school is done in Rulindo Ngoma & Gisagara and many of them are returned to school.
