NCPD started to strengthen its organs at sector levels

In line with the empowerment of National Council of Persons with Disabilities organs the NCPD has organized the training to the NCPD committees at sector level. Participants will be trained on the following courses: Responsibilities, Lobbying and Advocacy, Legal framework of persons with disabilities, Community based rehabilitation, 2012 IDPD achievements, Leadership and Leading PWDS, Planning and reporting. These trainings began on Monday the 26th to 30th August 2013 in GISAGARA district where 91persons from elected committees of National Council of Persons with disabilities gathered in Gisagara conference hall to follow the training.

Speaking at the occasion, the Mayor of Gisagara District Mr KAREKEZI Leandre thanked the persons with disabilities in their relevant role to the development of district and striving for self-reliance. He reminded that it’s a good opportunity for persons with disabilities to follow carefully the training reminding their responsibilities, law and rights, which shall facilitates them to train others in sectors and encouraged them to be in good place to be in line with the government programs. He pledged that “disability is not inability”, he encouraged them to increase time reserved to work, improving income generating activities and working hardly.

The Executive Secretary of National Council of Persons with Disabilities who attended this activity; in his opening remarks pledged that NCPD as a new organisation with has organised the training targeting to empower committees at sector level by training them on their responsibilities, law and rights of persons with disabilities, lobbying and advocacy persons and other courses that facilitates PWDs.He reminded that PWDS may concentrate and gather their efforts in working in cooperative for their social economic changes. The KOIMA cooperative has been a good example in district’s performance evaluation. “‘Use this expected training out come to do better the advocacy of our representatives” concluded the executive secretary.

These training sessions will be done in Ruhango district from 02nd to 05th September and Huye district in the period of 09th to 12th 2013.

Note that committees in Districts, Provinces and National Level were trained before.
