NCPD IS SENSITIZING THE RIGHTS OF PRISONNERS WITH DISABILITIES AND STAFF OF RWANDA CORRECTION SERVICES

The National council of Persons with disabilities is organizing the training workshop for staff of Rwanda Correction Services and prisoners in   Rwanda. The workshop is covering all prisons of Rwanda from 1-28 November 2017. Even if prisoners  are in prison, they have the common right and the special right as prisoners  with Disabilities like to get the orthesis and prosthesis, to be trained in vocation, sports  and leisure because it is kind of entertainment.  The rights of prisoners with Disability are protected by the law said Mukarugwiza Clemence Legal Affairs in NCPD. The Rwanda Correction services staffs are trained on the following objective:  Rwanda Legal framework on disability, The   Disability mainstreaming in prison life, the inclusion in prison system. During the interview with NCPD staff the prisoners of Nyarugenge prison request NCPD to advocate for them to remove the barriers in the infrastructures and get the prosthesis and orthesis.  Nyarugenge prisoners and staff thanked NCPD for the good will of training to share the good topics on the right of prisoners. Such   training workshop shall cover all prisons in Rwanda during in November 2017.
