The message was given by the Executive Secretary of National Council of Persons with Disabilities Emmanuel NDAYISABA during the Disability Coordination Forum that took place at HillTop Hotel, 19th June, 2018. The forum is the institution that works in promoting the welfare of Persons with Disabilities in Rwanda. In his opening remarks, the Executive Secretary Emmanuel NDAYISABA of NCPD, thanked all participants for coming and reminded everyone to report because it is one of the tool to justify how the institution is implementing its performance contract . The presentations focused on the achievements of each institution in promoting the welfare of Persons with Disabilities. Mr TUYIZERE Oswald Director of Economic and Social Empowerment present an overview of NCPD achievements in promotion of PwDs including the developing orthopedic workshops for assistive devices in HVP Gagatagara, strengthening NCPD organs from cell to District level, in Gakenke, Musanze and Burera district, in mainstreaming accessibility audit in public institutions specifically in infrastracture, creating the teams of Sitball and sitting volley ball , supporting the Cooperatives ,develop the implementation for mainstreaming policies, laws, ministerial orders, follow up the cards distribution, Screen PwDs to be trained through VTCs, conduct the assessment on causes of school drop out of CwDs, develop specific disability mainstreaming guideline, mobilize and sensitize PwDs to have access to finance,Conduct field visit to the centers caring CwDs, Advocate for job obtainment for PwDs in coffee industry, conduct meeting against begging among PwDs, produce quarterly newsletter, organize meeting with local authorities on inclusion of PwDs, develop guidelines on bio-psychosocial service for centre caring CwDs, carry out an accessibility audit of Public institutions, organize & celebrate IDPD 2017 at National level, identify and sensitize parents who have CwDs , how taking care of CwDs, conduct the workshop of Vice Mayors in charge of social affairs, Conduct the regional workshop on disability. He explain also the guidelines in heath sector and education where the guidelines in health sector request that the medical equipments to be inclusive, minimum knowledge and ethical to approach persons with Disabilities like sign language interpretation, accessibility of infrastructure. In education sector, the guideline will focuses on skills of the teachers, availability of materials and friendly of infrastructure in schools. In order to foster the Disability Coordination forum, the meeting will be done by the sectors in the future. In his closing remarks Mr The President of NUDOR BIZIMANA Dominique, thanked all participants who participated in the Disability Coordination Forum and said that all institutions will continue to work hand in hand with NCPD in order to promote the welfare of Persons with Disabilities.
