Games competitions aiming at promotion of Sports of PWDs

NCPD had organized games competition of persons with disabilities aimed to promote sport and leisure and should be done in two phases.1st phase at province level and the second phase at national level.In this competition two sports are involved, these are Goalball and Sitball for men and women

The long awaited competition took place in 4 provinces and in Kigali-City.  For southern province, the game competition took place at NATIONAL UNIVERSITY OF RWANDA/ Huye on 20th October, 2012 and the same day the districts of Eastern province have been competing and the competition took place at HVP-GATAGARA/ RWAMAGANA. On 28th October 2012 competition continue in Northern and Western province. Forthe Northern Province competition took place in Musanze and for western in Rubavu district. On 11th November, 2012 it was time for Kigali-City. As each district should be represented for eliminations in their province.

“Kicukiro district played a fair play match, it was our first time playing this game, but we hope to play better when we got training”, Team captain said.

This event is a very interesting experience and we recommend such more events to develop a viable and healthy environment in PWDs and NCPD staff, as well as Rwandan society.

The competition at national level will take place on 2nd December 2012 at National Amahoro Stadium and everyone is welcome to assist them.

We are grateful to the Executive Secretary of National Council of Persons with Disabilities (NCPD) who authorized this competition; to Sport and Leisure Officer in collaboration with NPC-Rwanda to organize this competition. Our acknowledgement is also addressed to the districts for facilitating PWDs to participate in this competition.
