The Rhineland-Palatinate delegation visit in Rwanda

In line with the existing cooperation between Rwanda and Rhineland-Palatinate, the delegation from ‘Fair integration of people living withdisabilities’ from Rhineland is in study tour in Rwanda from the 05th October to 12th October 2013. The main objective of the visit is to get ,to know and understand each other’s situation by identifying challenges that persons with disabilities in Rwanda are facing and trying to find solutions together. This delegation is headed by Mr. Richard Auenheimer, the President of Rwanda Rhineland-Palatinate partnership and Mathias Rosch, the Commissioner and ombudsman of persons with disabilities and other 13 persons from disability organisations and schools of PWDs in Rhineland. With their pride ‘Nothing about us-without us‘persons with disabilities in Germany are fighting for their rights, social inclusion, accessibility, barrier free society, inclusive education, social assistance, sport and leisure and Independent living schemes as it was explained by the commissioner of PWDS in Rhineland-Palatinate.

On Sunday, the 6th September, 2013 the delegation was received at NCPD by the NCPD and NUDOR representatives presided over by the former President of NCPD and who is now the Honourable Representative of PWDs in Parliament of Rwanda, Mr Rusiha Gastone.

The delegation was explained that NCPD is a forum of advocacy and it is composed by the elected committees from national to cell level which means that NCPD structure is leading and working in decentralised system. The executive secretariat is a technical organ aiming to implement the decisions of Government in promoting persons with disabilities.The Executive Secretary of NUDOR took also this opportunity to present the achievements of NUDOR in promotion of persons with disabilities.

Note that the delegation will do also a study tour in our country in visiting different centres and organizations working with Persons with Disabilities such as Centre IZERE Mubyeyi, National Paralympic Committee (NPC), MAE Rulindo, INEZAKabaye and APAX Muranba in Ngororeo District, HVP-Gatagara Huye and centre des sourds Muets  Huye, AGHR. There will be also a two days’ workshop in Gihindamuyaga, meeting with MINALOC officials and meeting with Director Uwe Mayer

A Stick on which is written ‘UN convention on rights of persons with disabilities’ was given to NCPD as a Symbol of Partenership with Rhenanie Palatinate and at the end of their visit a closing discussions will lead to a Memorandum of understanding (MoU) between NCPD and Fair integration of people living withdisabilities’ of Rhineland Palatinate.
