DIFFERENT INSTITUTIONS SHALL WORK HAND IN HAND WITH NCPD FOR PROMOTING LIVES OF PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES

On February 28, 2017 at Hill Top Hotel NCPD hosted a Disability Coordination Forum, which coordinates the institutions involved in promoting the welfare of Persons with Disabilities in Rwanda. In his opening remarks Mr RUGEMINTWAZA Jerome Director of Administration and Finance, NCPD thanked all participants and invited everyone to advise how best to promote the welfare of Persons with Disability as partners. The presentations focused on   the achievements such as the celebrations of International Day of Persons with Disabilities where the activities implemented were focused on the collaboration between every stakeholder. Mr IRUTABAMI Florian, ICT &Database Officer in NCPD presented the operations of the Resource Map, the tool which will coordinate and ensure better communication between different stakeholders in the disability movement. It is the first channel in Africa which will connect the institutions involved in the disability movement in an effective manner. As the Coordination Forum is the platform of stakeholders in the disability movement, NCPD has created a Monitoring &Evaluation tracking process which NCPD will use in monitoring the report of their partners. Some institutions have reported already others didn’t report and the meeting requested all institutions to register and to report through this system.  That will enable NCPD to report and disseminate all activities of NCPD in UNCRPD on behalf of the Government of Rwanda as signed by Kayigi Adolphe in charge of Monitoring and Evaluation in NCPD. Madam NYIRABUGENIMANA Sylvie in Charge of Disability Friendly Communication presented the findings of the national assessment in centers caring for Children with Disabilities. The result found in the assessment is the lack of care of Children with Disabilities by some owners and parents who give up caring for their Children. In her closing remarks, Madam MUHAWENIMANA Faina, Acting Director in MINALOC said that we recognize the coordination of NCPD in their the activities and that MINALOC will continue to support NCPD in its efforts .
